Jaclyn I. Barbosa

Jaclyn specializes in helping clients with a broad range of labor and employment issues. She has experience in federal and state court cases in Texas. Her involvement includes motion practice, managing large discovery projects, analyzing payment data for wage and hour actions, and trial experience. Jaclyn counsels employers on issues related to wage and hour actions, family and medical leave, employment policies and handbooks, pre-employment screening, fair credit reporting, restrictive covenants, and other transactional aspects of labor and employment law.

Representative Matters

 

Business and Employment Litigation

      • Represented a third-party drug testing administrator in various disputes with specimen donors involving negligence and intentional tort claims, DTPA and defamation claims, and breach of contract and fiduciary duties claims.
      • Represented various employers in the energy industry in multiple FLSA collective and class actions involving federal wage claims, and New Mexico, Colorado, North Dakota, Ohio, and Pennsylvania state law claims.
      • Represented employers in federal and state court lawsuits involving claims for sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
      • Assisted in the defense of a landlord/tenant dispute involving property damaged during Hurricane Harvey in two-week jury trial.
      • Assisted in the defense of an energy company in a dispute with their former employee involving the enforcement of a clawback provision in an agreement to fund education expenses.
